Saying that you study
Use ser and the word, without a or an, as with a profession: Eu sou estudante.
- O que você estuda?
- Eu estudo direito.
- Eu estudo português.
University students often say eu faço (I do) with the name of the course:
- Eu faço medicina.

Pay attention! Direito looks like the English word direct, but as a course it means law. And letras is the course for people who study languages and literature.
